Only an estimated 25% of camera operators and video editors are women. We want to help close production’s hard-skill gender gap. If you believe in this mission, regardless of your gender identity - you can be a part of the GIRL CREW.
WHAT IS THE
FOUNDER & EXEC PRODUCER
Emily Geraghty (Founder/Executive Producer) leads the GC.NYC team with 12 years of professional production experience. She became a producer/shooter/editor so no one could stop her from turning her ideas into reality. Emily’s skills are built on a strong post-production foundation - she taught herself to edit at age 14.
Before going solo and starting GC.NYC, Emily was a Senior Producer at Conde Nast, where she made original videos for Glamour, Allure, Teen Vogue, and THEM. At CN, Emily won a 2018 Webby Award for a short documentary she pitched, directed and edited. The piece was viewed over 22 million times on Facebook and featured on NPR’s Morning Edition. For Glamour, Emily created Body Talk, a body-positive YouTube series with 10+ episodes and an average of a million views per episode. The most-watched episode has been viewed over 13 million times. Prior to CN, Emily was a Producer for Bustle.com, a freelance TV pilot and sizzle reel editor, and a Production Coordinator for MTV.
As a solo producer/shooter/editor, Emily produced, directed, shot and edited five short documentaries for NBC News. From 2013 to 2015, Emily ran That Cheap Bitch, a blog chronicling her thrift store hauls and colorful hair dye experiments. The site saw 72k unique visitors a month at its height, via DIY search engine optimization and Pinterest strategy.
Emily’s proudest work for GC.NYC (so far) has been showrunning Commit to the ‘Fit, an inclusive wedding fashion series for The Knot, and being nominated for a GLAAD Award for Outstanding Online Journalism.
Casey Doherty (Producer/Editor) has worked for GC.NYC since its inception. In addition to her work as a producer and camera operator, she’s an advanced Adobe Premiere editor and works in AfterEffects to create VFX and motion graphics. Casey is a graduate of University of Alabama, where she triple-majored in Creative Media, Business Marketing and Computer Science. Casey worked in the university’s sports media department, Crimson Tide Productions, throughout her education and interned with the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues video teams. Casey’s favorite GC.NYC project (so far) is Commit to the ‘Fit for The Knot, on which she led many aspects of production for Season 2 and edited every episode. She’s also proud to have been on the GLAAD Award nominated team for the LGBTQNation documentary “When Helping LGBTQ+ Homeless Youth is Personal.” Fun fact - Casey is a level 2 sommelier.
Abbi Abraham (Associate Producer/Editor) hails from Alexandria, Virginia and is a graduate of Wesleyan University, where she double majored in Film Studies and African American Studies. Previously Abbi interned for American Masters on PBS, as well as for the streaming service and film distributor Mubi. Abbi especially loves being on set - a highlight was turning the GC.NYC studio into Zanta’s workshop for a Manscaped broadcast ad. In addition to her AP and Assistant Camera work, Abbi brings four years of Adobe Premiere editing experience to GC.NYC. Fun fact - Abbi is a black belt in taekwondo.
